Arkema Inc. has debuted polyetherketoneketone copolymers that feature slow crystallinity and low melt temperature for injection molding and extrusion.

Kepstan 6000 PEKK can be injection molded or extruded as an amorphous polymer without the need for quenching, says Arkema researcher Tim Spahr. Melt temperature is 581° F, the lowest among the family of polyaryletherketones, according to Arkema. Its glass transition temperature of 320° F is among the highest in this family of polymers.

Available in a range of flow rates, Kepstan 6000 thermoplastics are suited to film and sheet extrusion, laser sintering, calendering, thermoforming, injection molding, rotomolding and other processes, claims Arkema. Target markets include oil and gas, automotive and aerospace. Arkema’s global headquarters is in Colombes, France. Its U.S. headquarters is in King of Prussia, Pa.
