Procter & Gamble's Imflux injection molding subsidiary is slated to begin production this year.

Procter & Gamble Co.’s injection molding technology subsidiary is looking for a specialist in customer care.

Imflux Inc. is advertising on its website a job opening for a customer care technical leader. The employee would be responsible for “delivering injection molding systems that meet or exceed project objectives and for being the customer team’s go-to resource for technical molding system answers.”

Imflux spokeswoman Anna Hogan stated in a May 7 email that this position and others advertised on the website were unfilled.

P&G launched Imflux last fall to develop innovative injection molding technology. The company has not delineated specifically what Imflux will do but it has filed numerous patents for injection molding technology, from materials to molds to low-pressure molding. Although it seems logical that P&G would use or license such technology for its own packaging needs, the company has suggested it could provide the technology to non-competing businesses.

Hogan said Imflux had no comment about its progress. Last November she said Imflux hopes to begin production in summer of 2014 at its Hamilton, Ohio, operation.

Economic Development Blog reported that Imflux will spend $50 million to purchase machinery and equipment. Imflux has a long-term lease for the former Hamilton Fixture facility on Symmes Road in Hamilton. The 318,000-square-foot building had been closed since May 2012. Imflux plans to create about 230 jobs at the site by 2017.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved Imflux for a 60 percent, eight-year job creation tax credit worth about $2.6 million. The city of Hamilton offered to match that incentive and has also offered a $100,000 forgivable loan dependent on job creation. The city also will provide a 75 percent property tax abatement for a 10-year period, according to the ED blog.

Other positions Imflux is advertising are technical systems leader/application developer and modeling and simulation delivery leader. The former position entails end-user and manufacturing support. The modeling position includes development of new modeling capabilities for the injection molding industry. Previous positions advertised sought technical moldmaking and other specialized skills.

A recent addition to Imflux’s executive staff was the hiring of Mark Elliot as vice president of global manufacturing and plant manager. Elliot has 35 years of diverse manufacturing and quality experience in automotive and consumer products. He holds an Engineering Technology degree from Western Michigan University and has worked in Germany, China, Malaysia and Japan.
