Budzar Industries Inc., the Willoughby, Ohio-based maker of heaters and chillers and temperature control equipment, has acquired BV Thermal Systems LLC of Modesto, Calif.

BV Thermal Systems manufactures refrigeration-based, temperature-controlled liquid recirculation systems and water-cooled heat exchangers for semiconductor plants; laboratories; medical applications such as lasers, blood analyzers, MRI systems and CT scanners; and bio-pharmaceuticals.

BV Thermal Systems previously operated as Bay Voltex, and the company makes the line of Bay Voltex Chillers, introduced in 1980 and used mainly in labs, and the semiconductor and medical industries. Several major university laboratories have Bay Voltex equipment.

Terms were not disclosed.

“By bringing BV under the Budzar Industries umbrella, we plan to leverage our collective purchasing, engineering and manufacturing capabilities to provide customers with reliable, innovative products and responsive service at a lower price,” Budzar President David Young said.

Budzar bought BV Thermal Systems from Dave Pease, who will continue working with Budzar for six to 12 months during the transition. All other BV employees will remain with the company in Modesto.

Budzar was founded in 1975. Its product line covers a broad range of industries, including plastics, rubber and chemicals.
